At MNM Developments, we believe exceptional homes begin with understanding the places they become part of. While quality craftsmanship and thoughtful interiors define life within our homes, the wider setting plays an equally important role in shaping how developments are designed.
Every neighborhood has its own identity, history and character. From urban streetscapes to established communities and evolving regeneration areas, these elements influence the way people experience a place. That’s why designing around a place is central to the MNM approach.
Every Place Tells a Different Story
No two locations are the same, and we don’t believe developments should be either.
From the earliest stages of planning, we take time to understand the unique qualities of a site. Existing architecture, local heritage, landscape and the way people already interact with an area all help inform our design decisions.
Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, we aim to create homes that feel naturally connected to their surroundings, enhancing the character of a place while supporting modern lifestyles.
Balancing Contemporary Living with Local Character
Modern homeowners expect flexible layouts, energy-efficient design and homes that support changing lifestyles. However, delivering contemporary living doesn’t mean losing a sense of place.
Our developments aim to strike a balance between innovation and context, combining thoughtful architecture with materials, forms and design approaches that complement their surroundings.
Inspired by Place: Salamander Yards
Situated on Salamander Street in Leith, the development responds to its unique surroundings through a carefully considered architectural approach. The U-shaped building creates a private south-facing courtyard, while varying building heights help bridge the transition between Salamander Street and neighbouring Leith Links.
The design draws inspiration from Leith’s industrial heritage through the use of varied brick tones, metalwork detailing and warehouse-inspired forms. Two ground-floor commercial units and a pocket park further contribute to creating an active and connected place for future residents and the wider community.
By understanding the history and character of the area, Salamander Yards has been designed not simply as a collection of homes, but as a development that belongs within the evolving story of Leith.
Creating Places for the Future
Designing around place means looking beyond today’s needs and considering how communities will evolve in the years ahead. It means creating homes that support modern living while contributing positively to the neighbourhoods they become part of.
At MNM Developments, we believe great homes don’t exist in isolation. They are shaped by their surroundings, connected to their communities and designed to leave a lasting positive impact.
